Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What types of not for profit organisations does Accounting For Good work with?

Accounting For Good specialises in charity and NFP organisations. We work with organisations across community services, health, education, peak bodies, environmental programs and social enterprises. Our expertise is best suited to organisations with growing financial complexity, multiple funding streams, or increased reporting and governance requirements.

Do you only work with organisations that already have an annual turnover of over $1 million?

No. While many of our clients are established organisations with turnover above $1 million, we also support charities and NFPs that are projecting strong growth and expect to reach that scale within the next two years. If you’re preparing for expansion, additional programs or more complex funding arrangements, we can help build the financial systems and oversight you’ll need.

What is included in your outsourced finance department service?

Our outsourced finance department handles the full range of day-to-day finance functions, including bookkeeping, payroll, bill payments, bank reconciliations, compliance reporting, grant acquittals, management reporting, and audit preparation. You receive a complete finance team without needing to employ and manage multiple staff.

How does an outsourced CFO support our organisation?

An outsourced CFO provides senior-level financial leadership, guiding your budgeting, board reporting, funding analysis and long-term financial strategy. They help you interpret financial results, understand risks and make informed decisions that strengthen sustainability and governance.

How does Accounting For Good ensure continuity of service?

We use a team-based approach, meaning more than one person understands your file and processes. If someone is on leave, another team member steps in to take their place. This protects your organisation from staff absences and ensures your financial operations continue without interruption.

Are your systems suitable for organisations that use grants and multi-program funding?

Yes. We have deep expertise in grant administration, cost centre structures and multi-program reporting. Our systems are designed to track income and expenditure by funding source, ensuring grant acquittals and program reporting are clear, accurate, and compliant.

Do you work with boards and finance committees?

Absolutely. We regularly attend board and finance committee meetings, present financial results, and provide strategic insights to support good governance. Our CFOs help boards understand financial performance and risk, enabling them to make confident and informed decisions.

How do you transition an organisation from its current finance setup to Accounting For Good?

We begin with an onboarding process that reviews your existing systems, identifies areas for improvement, and establishes clear workflows. We migrate or configure your accounting software, set up reporting structures and train your team. Your assigned Account Manager ensures a smooth transition from day one.

Can we still access our financial data at any time?

Yes. We use cloud-based systems, primarily Xero and integrated reporting tools, which allow you secure, real-time access to your financial data. You can log in at any time to view transactions, reports or dashboards, or rely on us to prepare the reports you need.

Why should we choose Accounting For Good instead of hiring internal staff?

Hiring, managing and retaining finance staff can be costly and time-consuming. With Accounting For Good, you gain an entire team of specialist accountants, bookkeepers and CFOs for a predictable monthly cost. You also benefit from stronger internal controls, broader expertise, and reliable continuity, which are difficult to achieve with a small internal team.
